Bio
Lolimar Escudero Rodríguez has dedicated over two decades to public service and human rights advocacy. She earned her bachelor's degree in Humanities from the University of Puerto Rico. She later completed her Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 2003.
Her career began at a non-profit corporation dedicated to defending the rights of incarcerated individuals, representing them in civil actions. Upon joining the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals, she collaborated with the then-Administrative Judge to create a specialized unit to handle pro-bono cases filed by incarcerated and indigent individuals, ensuring their access to justice.
Her performance led to her appointment by the then-Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as the executive director of the Office of Judicial Evaluation. In this role, she performed administrative and supervisory functions, handled sensitive and confidential matters, and made strategic decisions in coordination with the highest authorities of the Judicial Branch.
Later, she served as a legal advisor for the Puerto Rican Judicial Academy. In that capacity, she worked on the continuing education of the judiciary on topics such as inclusion, equity, and the cultural aspects of law.
Escudero Rodríguez has been appointed by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico as an official grader for the state bar exam, a role that reaffirms her commitment to academic and professional excellence.
She has published numerous columns, providing a critical and thoughtful voice on fundamental issues for democracy and human rights. She has also done volunteer work, including teaching English in the community of Caimito, reaffirming her commitment to education and community development. She has been the Public Policy and Legislation Attorney for the ACLU of Puerto Rico since November 2022.
